  • FO Friday: Fetching

I've been meaning to craft these gloves ever since I started knitting years ago - I think you've probably heard of them, Fetching by Cheryl Niamath, published in Knitty - Summer 2006. I picked out some of the yarn that has been sitting on my shelf for about as long as I've wanted to make the gloves - I've no idea what it was, exactly, but it's surprisingly soft, off-white and vaguely aran weight.

    Fetching, Knitted Gloves

The pattern itself was very simple, the hardest part being picking up stitches to create the thumb hole. If you've never tried cabling before this would definitely be a good introduction. The gloves are bound off at the fingers using picot edging - a dainty finish. They would have been a very quick knit if I weren't so pre-occupied over the past couple of weeks, and I would happily craft more pairs.

    • They look fab, fantastic cables and I love that picot edging - not something I've ever tried, but it looks really good :)

    • I agree about picking up thumb stitches. I always get a hole that I have to sew up later no matter what I do. :) Your gloves turned out wonderfully!

    • Lovely, I have enjoyed that pattern many times. But never seemed to make a pair for me. I have some lovely Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran that will just have to become a pair for me!

    • NIcely done! Fetching is still on my to-do list too!

    • I've always loved the look of that pattern---so delicate and with such nice textures, and yours came out beautifully. I really love them in that colour, it shows off the cables so nicely.

    • Those are SOOO pretty!!!! :D

    • These look really good! Its a great feeling when you make something that you've had your eye on for ages!

    • What a great pattern! I'll have to check it out once I learn how to cable!

    • This reminds me it's been such a long time since I last picked up a pair of knitting needles!

The pattern is lovely! Ive never attempted to knit with patterns since I already know the basics. I might try this out once I get back into it. :D
