  • FO Friday: Rainbow Mitts

I know you are all dying to see those mitts I was knitting earlier this week, so here they are on FO Friday; completed!

    Rainbow Mitts

I tried to get them as matching in colour as possible, which I have generally managed. The yarn attempted to thwart my plans by having a knot in the middle - green suddenly turned to purple instead of to yellow. Armed with a pair of scissors and a keen eye I soon found the length of yarn I needed to continue with. You can tell where they are slightly off colours as the final yellow turns to red sooner on one glove than the other, but it's barely noticeable.

I'm quite proud of these gloves and I think will be wearing them for a long time to come. I test drove them today whilst out shopping, where I also saw this...

    Blossom

Blossom in the churchyard, which I can admire on a gloomy 'spring' day whilst still wearing my mitts. Perfect.

Again, for anyone interested, the pattern was accidental girly mitts by CraftyLis, and I used King Cole Mirage yarn (less than a single 100g skein, DK weight) in a rainbow colour.

    WIP Wednesday - Rainbow Mitts

Firstly I want to apologise for the influx of posts on knitting and crochet that has suddenly plagued my blog. If you enjoy this sort of thing, great! If not, sorry--normal blog emptiness will resume next week. ;)

This is WIP Wednesday, a follow-on from the FO Friday I once participated in. The object is to show off what you're currently working on, and here's my WIP:

It is a pair of rainbow mittens, following the accidental girly mitts pattern by CraftyLis. They are being knit using King Cole Mirage yarn (shade 872) which was given to me by my parents for my last birthday. I started knitting on Sunday evening and they will be done by tonight I should hope! It looks complicated, but the pattern is actually really simple to do, and I'm really happy with the way they are looking so far.

I know it's a little odd to be knitting gloves when there is blossom on the trees outside, but who cares?! I really liked the pattern, and I can't wait to have rainbows around my arms.
